Having been a reader and analyst almost as long as he's been writing, and having read and covered around 10,000 scripts at this point, Scott still sees himself as a screenwriter first.

His passion for all things screenwriting takes over all aspects of his life, which is why he loves sharing his advice on the podcast, mentoring writers, and teaching people to gain confidence and sharpen skills in any way he can.

What you’ll achieve over 8 weeks:

WEEK 1. UNDERSTANDING CHARACTER

You'll unravel the secrets and mysteries surrounding what makes a great protagonist in a screenplay. You'll study specific produced characters, talk about your characters, and set that groundwork to build out the strongest structure possible.

WEEK 2.THE LEAD PROCESS - LONER

Part one of the LEAD Process is the LONER phase. You'll look at different genres and choices you can make with your leading characters. You'll understand exactly how to create a protagonist that sets the structure in motion, so that it's impossible to stop reading.

WEEK 3.THE LEAD PROCESS - EXPLORER

This phase is about engaging the reader even further and making them pick up on all those clues that are challenging the character to move towards a point where they finally realized that being reactive is never going to get them where they need to be.

WEEK 4.THE LEAD PROCESS - ACTIVIST

This is where you'll make your protagonist grab the steering wheel of their story and learn why they picked up all the tools they were given and start to use them in pushing toward that final phase of the story.

WEEK 5.THE LEAD PROCESS - DEATH

The final act of a screenplay can be very tricky and the execution of it really does come down to paying everything off. This is the most exciting portion of the script and there are so many things to uncover and put into practice to make sure your final act resolves as well as it possibly can.

WEEK 6. FINAL WRAP UP

This final module wraps everything up and uses all your screenplays as examples of how the structure is working or how it is holding the script back at the moment. This is where you'll dig a little deeper, review any questions, and prepare for your one-on-one sessions.

WEEK 7. ONE-ON-ONE SESSION

Scott will read your script and work through it with you from the perspective of the LEAD Process.

WEEK 8. ONE-ON-ONE SESSION

A continuation of the previous week and final chance to ask Scott questions, brainstorm, and solidify your script's structure through the protagonist's journey.

This format and way of seeing your story will create a stronger pace and flow that's guaranteed to pull a reader in and keep them invested. It'll ensure that your character goes through the story and changes, goes through a much-needed catharsis, and becomes who they need to be in their world.

No. If you have just an outline, synopsis or treatment, that's fine, but you will definitely get more out of the lab if you have a completed screenplay.

Is this lab designed just for feature films?

Yes, the LEAD Process is designed to be applied to the three acts of a feature film.

Do you offer refunds if I drop out after a session or two?

Sorry, no. You will have taken someone else's spot and so the fee is non-refundable.
