My experience with Script Reader Pro was tremendous. Not only was the communication easy and quick, but the work they provided was affordable and to the utmost standard. I highly recommend this service and will continue to work with them.

Script Reader Pro is one of the very best services we have used so far. We were extremely satisfied with the writer’s edits and suggestions. Far better than sending off to the unknown “script-writers” which we used in the past, who scammed us and charged most unreasonable amounts. We definitely will use this service again on our future projects.

I promise you won’t regret using Script Reader Pro if you’re serious about taking your writing to the next level. My experience was nothing but positive and I fully intend on using Script Reader Pro for all my script coverage needs in the future.

Everything you’ll get with your
Line Edit.

• Full description edit. Tightening up all action lines where needed. Removing or reworking excessive and/or confusing description, making for a cleaner and easier read.

• Full dialogue edit. Tightening up the dialogue by editing down and reworking excess speech and any confusing words or phrases. As with the description part of the Line Edit, the emphasis is on tidying up your existing work, not rewriting it. i.e. this service is NOT a Polish. See the FAQs below for more info.

• Full proofread. A page-by-page, line-by-line proofread in which we flag up any grammatical and spelling typos and errors.

• Full formatting edit. All sluglines, montages, flashbacks, transitions, action lines, dialogue, etc. will be edited to provide the best formatting option, directly on the page.

• Industry connections. If our reader really likes your script we may ask you if you’d like them to pass it on to their manager or agent or other industry contacts. (Note: There’s no Ratings Grid or “Recommend” grade with a Line Edit.)

• Free follow-up email service. Email us after receiving your Line Edit with up to three questions, free of charge.

• Guaranteed five-star service. Our average client rating on Google and Facebook is 5/5 stars. You can read what other writers just like yourself have to say about our services on our Reviews page.

• Super-fast turnaround time. We strive to return all edited scripts back to writers as fast as possible. The standard turnaround time is approx 14 days, but if you need it back sooner you can choose a 3-Day or 7-Day Rush service at checkout.

How the process works
step-by-step.

Ready to see your script’s dialogue and description in a whole new light? Get started by following the simple instructions below:

1. Choose a TV or Feature Line Edit. You’ll be transferred to a secure checkout form. Don’t worry, it’s all very quick and easy.

2. Choose turnaround time. Our standard turnaround time is approximately 14 days. If you need your proofread back by a specific date, we recommend our 3- or 7-Day Rush service.

3. Make payment. When you’re ready to purchase you can do so via credit card, debit card, PayPal, ApplePay or Google Pay. (If English isn’t your first language there may be an extra fee for a heavier proofread.)

4. Upload script. Please attach your script as an EDITABLE file. Unfortunately, we’re unable to work on PDFs, or in Celtx, WriterDuet or Word due to the difficulties inherent in editing and formatting in them.)

5. Choose preferred pro writer(s). You will have the option here to leave any note you may have for your pro too.

6. Hit send, kick back and relax. You’ll receive an email letting you know we’ve successfully received your script and to confirm your chosen turnaround time 🙂

Pick one of our screenwriters to dig deep into each line of your script and give it a pro’s touch.

FAQs.

The main difference is that both a Rewrite and a Polish are custom-made services, executed by one of our writers to your exact brief. A Line Edit is a predetermined service that focuses solely on tightening up the dialogue and description.

To go a little deeper, a Rewrite is a more extensive service in which the reader brings their own interpretation to the material. It involves more significant changes on a broader scale. For example, to the story, characters and scenes.

A Polish, on the other hand, is kind of in-between a Rewrite and a Line Edit. Your chosen pro may tighten up the dialogue and description, as in a Line Edit, but also add their own suggestions in order to, say, “polish” a scene and make it “come alive” a bit more.

We have two types of turnaround time available:

1. Standard 14 days (approximate)

This means you will receive your coverage back roughly within two weeks. We cannot guarantee a return of your work exactly on Day 14—it could be a day or two later, so hang tight!

2. Rush

If you order a 3- or 7-Day Rush service, you will receive your coverage back three or seven days later, starting from the day after purchase.

For example, if you purchase a 3-Day Rush at 4 pm on a Monday, Day #1 of the countdown will start on Tuesday as the first full day. So you can expect your notes back no later than midnight Thursday.

Rush orders received after 5 pm PST will be processed the following morning and the turnaround countdown will start from that day.

For example, if you purchase a 3-Day Rush at 6 pm on a Monday, it’ll count as a Tuesday purchase and so Day #1 will be Wednesday and you’ll receive your notes back no later than midnight Friday.

(All times are Pacific Standard Time.)

We accept scripts formatted to industry standard saved as an EDITABLE file, such as Fade In, Final Draft, Movie Magic and Script Studio.

Unfortunately, we don’t accept scripts written in Celtx, Word or WriterDuet due to the difficulties inherent in editing and formatting in them.

In this case, if you can export your script as a text (.txt) file, we can then upload it into one of the above professional screenwriting programs, complete the work, and then return to you as a .txt file. You will then be able to import this into Celtx, Word or WriterDuet.

Here’s the 2-step plan to picking the pro of your choice:

1. If you haven’t already, check out our writers’ profiles on our About Us page. There you’ll find their mini-bios and genre specialties.

2. During checkout, you’ll be asked for your first and second choice pro.

And that’s it!

A note on reader availablilty:

If your first choice isn’t available your script will go to your second choice. In the unlikely event your second choice isn’t available, we’ll contact you.

If you leave your second choice as “I don’t mind” we’ll send your script to who’s available and best suited to your script’s genre.

If you really want a specific reader, add them as your 1st AND 2nd choice and we’ll be sure to pass it on to them or get back to you with their availability.

(Important! Not all readers are available for all services. If your chosen reader isn’t listed, it means they’re unavailable for the service.)

Every script that’s sent to us remains 100 percent the author’s copyright.

We will under no circumstances release, or let your script be viewed, by any third party without your prior consent. Not only that, but every idea we suggest or piece of feedback that you take on board and add to your script will be completely your own.

We also never accept royalties. We’re just here to help you make it as a screenwriter and all we ask is that you invite us to the premiere. 🙂

With that in mind, we don’t sign writers’ own NDAs.

We—and to be honest, 99 percent of people and companies out there—have zero interest in “stealing screenplays.” Managers, execs, producers, etc. will be interested in hiring you as a writer, not running off with one script.

And script consultancies like ourselves have no desire to do this either. We have our own careers and reputations to take care of and simply want to help you succeed too.

If you’re still worried, however, here’s the legal angle:

We recommend all screenwriters register their screenplays at the US copyright office and/or WGA West before sending their work out. It’s cheap, easy, and will protect you against any copyright infringement by law if it ever came to that.

Here’s a blog post on the subject you may find useful: How to Copyright a Script the Smart Way and Avoid These 5 Legal Pitfalls.

If your script needs a heavier Line Edit than usual because English isn’t your first language, we may need to charge extra. In this case, we will contact you after receiving your script.

Our readers are super busy and so, unfortunately, are unable to examine extra materials, such as synopses, treatments, TV bibles, novels, or character breakdowns for context.

Ideally, your script should make sense and work as a stand-alone piece when you send it to us, just like in a real-world submission.

If there’s something super important you think the reader should know about the story, however, feel free to let them know on the form during checkout.

Or:

If you have a synopsis, treatment, TV bible or outline and would like your chosen pro to give feedback on too, you can purchase Synopsis/Treatment Coverage here.

For character breakdowns, research notes, photos, videos, etc. please contact us at submissions[at]scriptreaderpro.com and we will give you a quote.

You can choose either a normal version with the edits visible on the page (see sample) OR a “clean” copy without the edits left on the page at no extra cost.

If you’d like both, please leave a request in the notes section during checkout and we’ll send you a purchase link for $195.
